Ideas for Outdoor Fitness
There are a multitude of activities you can do at a park to get exercise, but running and walking are the easiest. Some other ideas are:
- Use a park bench for sit-ups, step-up, dips, and push-ups.
- Be a kid again and use the monkey bars or swing while your kids play on the playground.
- Do lunges, squats or jumping jacks in a soft grassy area to reduce impact.
- Jog around a park trail and complete each exercise in a “vita course.” Most parks have them and they consist of stretching and toning exercises.
- Play a sport with a friend or group–basketball, volleyball, baseball, kickball– the sky is the limit.
- Skate, rollerblade or ride your bike on a trail.
- Swim some laps or partake in a water-aerobics class at your local pool or aquatics center.
